Exciting News: I Now Offer OHIP-Covered Lactation Consultations

Hi there — I’m Lisa Ugulini, and I’m so excited to share some news that I hope will make a real difference for families across Ontario.

Thanks to my partnership with the Ontario Breastfeeding Clinic, I’m now able to offer OHIP-subsidized lactation consultations. That means if you’re an Ontario resident with a valid health card for both you and your baby — and you have a referral from your physician, midwife, or nurse practitioner — you qualify for OHIP subsidized lactation consults with me.

As a mom myself, and a lactation consultant, I know how valuable support can be during the early days of feeding your baby. My goal has always been to make that support more accessible, and I’m so grateful this partnership allows me to do just that.

OHIP subsidized rates are available for:

✔ Virtual consultations
✔ In-office visits

Please note: At-home visits are not included under the OHIP subsidy at this time.

🍼 How to Get Started

  1. Make sure you have a valid Ontario Health Card (for both mom & baby).

  2. Ask your doctor, midwife, or nurse practitioner for a referral. Use this link to request one.

  3. Once you have your referral, book your consultation with me here.

That’s it - simple and straightforward. And if you’re not sure how to start the referral process, don’t worry! The clinic website walks you through it step-by-step.

Why This Matters

I know firsthand how overwhelming those early days can feel, especially when feeding isn’t going as expected. International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) offer comprehensive and thorough care for a broad range of breastfeeding challenges, from simple to complex. The cost for an IBCLC can be a barrier to access for many families. The Ontario Breastfeeding Clinic gives you access to a team of lactation professionals, including physicians, at a lower rate via OHIP subsidy.

“Lisa was wonderful, I’d recommend this to any mom or new mom to be, she was so helpful with the process of re-latching my baby and making me feel secure about my baby getting enough as I was thinking she wasn’t. Her patience and knowledge was enough for me to feel confident and keep breastfeeding my baby ❤️”

If you or someone you know could benefit from this kind of support, please don’t hesitate to reach out or share this news. I cannot wait to help you on this special journey!

Warmly,
Lisa Ugulini, RPh, IBCLC
